We are pleased to announce that the new version 10.8 of VerticalMan® will be officially available starting in September and will fully support Android 14.
Why does support for new operating systems arrive later?
Some of our customers have asked why we wait several months before supporting the latest versions of Android. The answer is simple: our VerticalMan® app is primarily used on rugged devices, designed for work in challenging environments. Unlike consumer smartphones, these devices are not always updated to the latest operating system. Currently, most rugged devices operate with Android 12, with the exception of Samsung Xcover, which tends to follow Android updates more closely.
Our philosophy: safety first
Another aspect that sets us apart is our cautious approach to updates. While it is essential to keep the system updated with the latest security patches, we believe it is wiser to wait a few months before adopting a new version of the operating system. This allows us to ensure that any bugs are resolved and that the software is sufficiently mature for use in such a sensitive context as the safety of isolated workers.
What to expect from the new version?
In addition to supporting Android 14, the next version of VerticalMan® will introduce a new and important feature. However, details on this new feature will be revealed in a few weeks, so stay tuned!
